Research! We have many tools at our finger tips that generations before us did not have available. Use the net, ask professionals who are currently employed within your desired industry or role questions, call companies you want to work for and get a feel for their culture and what they want in an employee, align yourself with recruitment professionals who specialize within your chosen path. Career Mapping, have a plan. Five year plans are standard and commonly asked in interviews however the five year question is geared at role development and not overall career outcome.
